Family Support Council’s mission is to provide education, prevention, and intervention services to support growth and development of healthy families. The Agency opened in 1982 and was formed by Douglas County mental health professionals looking to help those impacted by family violence. A year later, the Family Support Council opened the first crisis line in Nevada. Today, all Nevada counties have a dedicated crisis line for domestic violence. FSC provides direct advocacy services to include; crisis intervention, individual advocacy, women’s support groups, Temporary Protection Order applications, navigation through various social systems, as well as resources and referrals. The Agency also offers cost free parenting classes, weekly support groups, direct therapy services, and supports adults with developmental disabilities.
